«Decaf&Cigarettes» by Riccardo Romano

Today’s cinema is full of portraits of brave, honest, better-than-men women and girls. We love these new heroines, of course, but sometimes we miss the competitive, ruthless divas of historical Hollywood.
Decaf & Cigarettes comes to our aid.
In this short dark comedy, two mean girls with ambitions to break through as actresses meet to spend time together, talk and catch up on each other’s careers.
The coffee table of an outdoor bar becomes the arena of a confrontation from which only one will emerge victorious.

The result is a little gem of minimal indie cinema, enriched with anecdotes and ordinary follies from the world of casting, theatrical improvisation, and self-image obsession, which rests on a constantly escalating script by director and screenwriter Riccardo Romano, and the above-the-line performance of Sophia Lockhart and Viktorija Portnova.

If you have any doubt that at least one of your friendships is toxic, you absolutely cannot miss Decaf&Cigarettes.
